Special steel and stainless steel ingots

ASO Siderurgica specialises in the production of round, square and polygonal ingots for forging and rolling, either bottom cast, some in various sizes, with or without sprues, or cast in stress-relieved or annealed blocks. The steel is obtained by melting carefully-selected high-quality scrap in an electric arc furnace, giving a very low content of residual elements, refining molten steel in a ladle furnace (LF), vacuum degassing (VD) and mould casting in a protective atmosphere with pre- set, controlled and recorded casting speed parameters. 
ASO Siderurgica also makes steel grades with special chemical and physical properties for bearings, hot-process dies, rotor shafts and turbine discs for the energy sector (Superclean) and other grades to specification.

TYPE OF STEEL

The production includes carbon steel and compound steel of the following types:

Cementation, Quenching, Surface hardening, Nitriding, HSLA, Low temperature toughness, Creep resistant.

ASO Siderurgica also makes steel grades with special chemical and physical properties for bearings, hot-process dies, rotor shafts and turbine discs for the energy sector (Superclean) and other grades to specification.

Electro-Slag Remelting (ESR)

The ASO Group uses an advanced ESR system for the production of items intended for the energy sector. It is capable of ensuring a high-quality grade of remelted steel ingots that are completely free from slag and impurities, and allows several ingots to be remelted into a single ingot weighing up to 150 tonnes and 2000 mm

in diameter, greatly reducing the generation of top-tail waste.

SLAG-REC

The ASO Group has designed, developed and patented an innovative testing system for recycling slag from the steel mill.

Vacuum-Arc Remelting (VAR)

The group’s production process uses a vacuum-arc remelting system for treating steels for various applications, mainly in the aerospace industry. This grade of steel features a high degree of purity thanks to the effective degassing process.
